Cleaning your windows can seem laborious. After all, some of that gunk feels like it will never come off! Hiring a professional is always an option. However, if you feel like attempting to tackle the windows yourself, below are some tips and tricks experts recommend using regular household supplies

       1. Make Your Own Cleaning Solution

Water, dish soap, and vinegar. I bet you have these ingredients in your house right now. However, did you know, when combined, these items make an excellent window cleaner? Mix two cups of water with ¼ cup of white vinegar. Add about ½ teaspoon of dish detergent and mix gently. (The goal is not to make a bubbly mess; you just want to gently combine the ingredients.) You can pour this mixture into a spray bottle, or leave it in a bucket. Better yet, this cleaning solution can be used on both the interior and exterior side of your windows! (A mixture of just water and one of the other ingredients can also work too.)

         2. Cleaning Those Dusty Blinds

If you are like me, you tend to just clean the windows and go. However, leaving the area around the window dusty is counterproductive. After all, any time you open the blinds or bump them, dust particles fall free and land back on your glass. To make cleaning the blinds easier, pull out your tongs, two microfiber clothes and four rubber bands. With your tongs open, wrap a microfiber towel around each side. Secure the towels with two rubber bands each. Ta-da! A handy-dandy, blind cleaner. To use, insert the tongs around each blind blade and simply slide down the length.

        3. Screen Cleaning

If your screens need a deep clean, you can always take them off. Using the cleaning solution above, simply spray your screens and gently scrub with a stiff bristle brush. Once done, rinse the screen off with your hose and allow to dry. If you just want to give your screens a quick cleaning, though, get out your lint roller. This little tool is strong enough to remove dust, cobwebs and dirt from your screen without damaging it.

       4. Cleaning Those Window Tracks

Window tracks are another commonly ignored zone. These tracks collect all kinds of gunk. If your tracks are relatively clean, you can use a simple sponge brush. Dip the brush in your cleaning solution or Pine-Sol and run it over the window track. If your tracks are really dirty, however, you might want to break out the elbow grease. Spread a small amount of baking soda over the area. Drizzle or spray vinegar over the baking soda, allowing it to foam for five to ten minutes. After that, use your sponge brush or microfiber towel to wipe up the mess.
